You know those prescription drug commercials where they list side effects?

We've all heard them, the various things that the legal department makes drug companies list as possible side effects in Rx commercials, and we shrug them off. I think that they finally hit one that no amount of glossing over will help them with.

The guys in marketing are gonna love that one.

"Yeah, it's a trade-off, sure. But, sir, ask yourself: Do you want diabetes?"

The "suicidal thoughts" ones always get me. Or the drugs designed to deal with the side-effects of another drug.

Easy peasy. You OD on Viagara to counteract the effects.

I love when they say "Tell your doctor is you are taking these other medications". Wouldn't my doctor have GIVEN me those medications??

People have multiple doctors! (Primary care, cardiologist, rheumatologist, etc.)

    But surely they share information?

Not necessarily, especially if they are with different practices.

    One would definitely hope so.
And really, they should be confirming that their med list for you is up-to-date every visit, anyway, so they know all prescription and OTC drugs you're taking (since, even if they share info, you could start taking something over-the-counter since your last MD visit). So, they should be asking you what you're on every time, so that you don't have to think to bring it up.

Oh, and the "contact your doctor if you have an erection lasting more than four hours," always is good for a chuckle, especially when I imagine someone taking that literally and calling their doctor's office emergency line at 2 a.m.
