The correct answer — if this moron actually knew the law — is that treason is defined as an act on behalf of a country with which we are at war. But he is too stupid to know the law or how to handle it.

    Noose still tightening.

Trump has more to fear from the Southern District of New York than he does from Mueller.

The wall isn't supposed to increase debt. Mexico is supposed to pay for it, remember?

    1. Nope. It doesn’t.
    2. Nope. It doesn’t.

What you saw was a single instance, one job being placed on the market in a particular way.

Do we really have to relive the Ohtani/small sample size debate on the politics thread?

On the other hand, maybe Trump should worry about Mueller as well as Manhattan.

I don't know if that rises to the level of treason, but legally he's probably guilty of dereliction of duty or mutiny. Whether he deserves to be and whether he'd be charged and punished for it, and to what degree, is a different matter. At the very least, he won't be manning the silo the next day because he's proven he can't do the job he's assigned to do.
And frankly, any president who orders an unprovoked nuclear first strike also has proven they can't do the job they've been assigned to do and should be removed from office immediately. I don't think there's a single sane person in this country who would argue otherwise.

All of that said, that's not what is going on in this case. This op-ed writer is apparently taking it upon themselves to override broad policy decisions that they disagree with, possibly by stealing classified information. They're not preventing war, they're trying to prevent the president from doing his job based on their own idea that they know better than he does.
Even if it's not treasonous, it's way more arrogant than it is heroic.

I tend to think of the economy in baseball terms. The GOP is saying “look, trump may be as personable as a cross between Albert Belle and Dave Kingman, but he’s hitting .300 with 40 home runs and 130 rbis.” The Dems are going, “yeah, but he is a defensive liability, strikes out way to much, is slow on the base paths and his pecota rating is terrible.” The gop goes, “.300, 40, 130 is way better than your guy ever did. His best year was .290, 30, 100.” Dems reply, “yeah, but our guy played an important defensive position, he had more walks, doubles, triples and stolen bases and he was loved in the clubhouse. Now, let’s compare WAR.” Gop, “.300, 4o, 130.” Dems, “you don’t understand. You are so stupid. Fuck you.”

Now, to the average person on the street, the GOP’s arguement is going to win the majority of the time because the average person doesn’t understand advanced things and sees the Dems as the ones resorting to anger.

He has no use for laws. No one has ever made him abide by them.
Trump's buddies Vlad, Kim and Duterte would execute the dissenter with extreme predudice.
Even his toadies in Congress would not allow that to happen.
