Now try to watch with your 19yr old who's totally obsessed with rock climbing and is going to Yosemite.

Its hard as a parent to encourage this endeavor; why not just play golf or tennis? I do my best to be positive, be happy for his passion for rock climbing and initiative to seek adventure. But damn its scary.

That sounds fascinating. I'll need to watch the trailer as soon as I can.

Does the doc have anything to do with this New York Times piece?: The Dawn Wall: El Capitan’s Most Unwelcoming Route

  4. Rewatched Maverick ....
Just a fun movie. No one was winning an oscar, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Jodie Foster was C-UTE! I don't care which way she swings.

I was watching an old Gunsmoke and the actress playing the little girl was ....Jodie Foster. Couldn't have been older than 5 or 6. Then again on The Partridge Family. The movie Foxes and Freaky Friday. If you liked her Maverick, check out Sommersby with Richard Gere.

There is a undercurrent throughout Free Solo that if you climb free, you will one day die by falling off a cliff. Alex Honnold was at our screening, and he seems like such a cool and interesting guy, but I left the movie and his talk after and said to my girlfriend, "He's going to die in a fall, right?" And she said, "Oh, absolutely."

Climbing free demands perfection. It's hard to be perfect your entire life. But for these guys, the thrill and the sense of accomplishment is worth that trade, I suppose in the same way an American football player will accept the harsh realities of his profession in exchange for its rewards.

Thought the board might like this. They're filming the IT sequel in town, which is presently dressed like Derry, Maine. Saw a newspaper box and thought, OH MY GOD WE'RE GETTING A NEWSPAPER. Not so much.

Was also crushed to learn that a beautiful new shop, Second Hand Rose, is not in fact a shop but dressed for the movie. Stephen King is hanging out inside of it.

Second Hand Rose played a prominent supporting role in Needful Things.

Wonder how the Daily Derry staff felt when they got purchased by the cheap owners of the Daily Journal. Owners so cheap, they wouldn’t even change the logos on the box.

There are also boxes for the Journal. This movie is clearly science fiction: Derry is still a two-newspaper town.
