I guess it was one of those things you had to hear. The anchor's inflection went way up on the "biggest storm ever" part, and then came down to a normal voice on the "to hit North Carolina."
Whether it was her intent or not, she emphasized one half of that sentence way more than the other.

You know it's gonna be bad if CNN is talking about Waffle Houses closing. They just interviewed the PR chief. I am not making this up.

    EDIT: Adds link.

Since I reminded everyone of the website by the same name yesterday, can't believe no one has mentioned . . .

I’m turning to Journey for my hurricane song.

“Oh, the wheel in the sky keeps on turning
    I don’t know where I’ll be tomorrow.”

In an extraordinary example of journalistic irresponsibility, both of the network news broadcasts I saw this evening, ABC and CBS, had most of their reporting on the foolhardy residents of the Carolinas coast who're planning to ride it out. That's because they send reporters to ground zero and it's still nice outside, so they need interviews. Network news is the last refuge of elderly shut-ins. Far better to get out to the interstate traffic jams and talk to the people who decided to get the hell out of Dodge.

    Just vandalized.

You'll come back to a Confederate flag antenna ball and 'Rednecks have more fun' bumper sticker.

They still fly Weather Service hurricane spotter planes into the storms. There have been some great photos, but obviously nothing is going to have the PoV/perspective of a shot from a satellite or the ISS.
