Do I also see Anita Hill wanting to be recognized?

I don't recall that, although you're correct, I believe, to cite the parallel, given that her case began with an FBI investigation.

Given Hill's treatment—maybe Joe Biden's greatest public failure—and the fact that Thomas was seated regardless, you can see why she and others like her, including Kavanaugh's accuser, potentially, would be reluctant to pursue things. Can you imagine stepping into today's nest? But if Kavanaugh's accuser doesn't, I'm assuming he's seated without much further bother. That's a pretty bad spot for a woman to find herself.

Kavanaugh is going to be seated unless a well documented smoking gun covered in blood is discovered under the driver's seat of his car. The D's don't have the votes or the leverage to stop him, and getting two young Supremes seated is a Republican wet dream. If the R's do turn on Trump it will be because of a combination of their having gotten their Supreme Court judges and tax cuts and Trump putting Republican seats in Congress at risk. They don't give a fuck about his abuses of power and incompetence.

Nothing that anyone says will convince me that Trump didn't offer Kavanaugh an abortion litmus test. The blocking 100,000 of his most crucial documents was nearly as egregious at the Merret Garland maneuver. Obama couldn't get a Supreme because ten months before was too close to an election, while Trump will get his a month before a midterm, a judge who has an expansionist view of executive powers who will also sit in judgement of Trump.

Mueller has Manafort by the short and curlies. If he didn't give Mueller what he wanted, there would be no deal. Mueller already has him convicted. There is no incentive to go easy unless he gives up the level above him - and that's a mighty short list. Remember too that Manafort was present at the Trump Tower meeting, and that likely means that he's got the goods on Fredo (and possibly Jared).

Seeing a generation of anti-establishment country singers (Hank Jr. too) turn into a bunch of flag waving patriots still astounds me. I get it, you kind of have to in order to sell records, but what made them "cool" was that they didn't give a fig about what others thought.

The only thing that would stop Kavanaugh is possibly paying for a few abortions and/or some paper calling the 2nd A into question - or that corporations aren't entitled to first amendment rights.

That Cuomo-Nixon race must have been the most covered 65-35 contest in history. Of course, Cuomo pretty much torched any Presidential ambitions he may have had through various missteps.

Back when Mario Cuomo was touted as a potential presidential candidate, my Italian-American mother told me no Italian-American would ever be elected president because everyone one would assume they had mob ties. She voted for Trump.

There can be a deal without any cooperation. You are just agreeing to plead guilty, and sparing them having to try it. It will save you a little time on the sentencing. If he thinks there is a chance he'll get a pardon, that could be (I don't know, though) what is going on here. We'll know more soon.
