Sigh... i am backing down after this post, because it is certainly a 'no win', but...... High school party 35 years ago? Silent for 35 years? No name now? I know this is not the #metoo guidebook, but your accusation has to have a little more meat than that.

My high school girlfriend recently found me on fb. Not talked in 35 years. We spent the day fb messaging (she seems a little batshit crazy now, but that is besides the point). I am pretty positive she dumped me during my senior year; i have thought that for 35 years. Not a big deal, I know we kept in touch, friendly, for months afterward. During this fb messaging, she was ADAMANT that I dumped her. She has details she 'remembers', and I know she certainly thinks I dumped her, 35 years later. One of us is wrong. God forbid these conflicting details were only over a breakup, not an unwanted advance, or ham-fisted makeout session.

It won’t go nowhere; it will go in the opposite way. It will prompt faux outrage among red state Democratic senators like Manchin and Heidkamp, whose votes — unlikely to begin with— are totally lost now. Any future Democratic efforts to block GOP SCOTUS nominees will be met with reminders of this one, further riling up the base.

TBH my biggest takeaway from that Farrow piece was how this got swallowed up in the Democrats' silly games. Feinstein has had this since July, didn't do anything about it at the hearings and now has this weird step of giving it to the FBI? That makes no sense at all, and I don't know why I'm supposed to think it's a big deal now if she didn't think it mattered to the hearings.

Think of how unhinged you have to be to get this pissed off about a children’s show. That woman is a Fucking lunatic and it’s embarrassing that any grown adults take her seriously.

    Poindexter-
My struggle in these kinds of things is whether I should contact the ex-girlfriend or let her contact me.
Talk about an unwanted advance being interpreted, in the explosive #MeToo age, and when Facebook is well known to pop up during divorce proceedings.
The genuine whackadoo stalkers have ruined it for guys who just want to know what their 1992 girlfriend now looks like.

I think that your skepticism is well-founded, for some of the reasons you note. And your overall point about the unreliability is a good one. But I think that being hazy about who-dumped-who is quite different than about whether you were raped (or nearly raped) or not.

Come to think of it, I actually volunteered to suck off the football team that night. Brett Kavanaugh? He wasn’t even there. You know how I am with details, darling.

I don't disagree with you at all. But IF this is true it is way more than "grabbing some boob". That is all I was saying.

I know more than a few who became born-again in the 80s. Which as a kid of the 80s really hacked me off. You read about the wild 70s and all the exploits you hope to emulate and then suddenly those same people are telling you that you shouldn't be doing that stuff. What a drag man.

The fallibility of memory is a real and significant part of every one of these kinds of accusations. Given the shit that accusers take, I tend to side with accusers, because there are of a lot of reasons for them not to come forward and they still do. (Imagine this woman's life if her name got out.) But obviously it's a tricky, tricky area.
