I don't think her original letter said it happened, did it?

 

It said everyone knew it happened and was talking about it. “The incident did happen.”

Now she says she doesn’t know it happened.

Plus she deleted the post.

Powerful stuff. Smoking gun stuff there.

 

Well, if she's now walking it back, that obviously changes my assessment of the letter. It's too bad I couldn't foresee that she would do that.

I will now write a 10,000-word dissertation on how the artist is actually commenting on the gaslighting of America and be hailed as a genius.

 

Yeah. It’s always a good idea to accept without skepticism an unhinged social media rant from an unknown person whose central claim is, she acknowledges, based on thirdhand accounts and hallway gossip. How could anyone possibly see that not panning out?

 

Yeah, it would be like seeing the good in some unhinged fucking failurist who spends all day being a fucking nutter on the Internet and sends "go fuck yourself" emails to other adult humans and thinks they're the problem.

 

Just when I think one person may be more unhealthily obsessed, the other horse noses ahead.

What would you like me to say? It seemed credible when I read it. I have no idea her reasons for walking it back—whether she made it up or the heat got to be more than she anticipated and she decided she didn't want any part of this circus. If she did make it up (I have no idea whether she did or not), then she's a piece of shit who set back the cause of women everywhere, like Jackie and the Rolling Stone story, and in particular women who have been assaulted and abused by men, which is a tragedy on numerous levels.
