Do you own a suit?

I mentioned to Mrs. W that I wanted to buy a velvet jacket after we saw people a couple of times wearing them so she surprised me with a teal one for my birthday last year. Utterly ostentatious but it looks good.

I tend to be a bit of a snob in terms of work clothes, but what we do is go to the outlet mall 2x a year to do all of my shopping.

I'm amazed by the frequency with which I can go through courthouse security, setting off the metal detectors because I don't bother to empty my pockets, passed deputies whom I have never seen before in my life and no one bats an eye. All because the suit makes you look the part.

I got mine last year for a formal wedding in Charleston. I really like wearing it. Gives a nice summer touch to formal wear.

5 suits, multiple sport coats, tuxedo. They are a regular part of my wardrobe, not necessarily for work, though.

I am a returning member to this site under a new name. In a previous life here, I made the comment that I had worn a tuxedo 3 times in my life. Six years later and out of the newspaper business, there are times when I wear a tuxedo three times in a month. Never say never.

I got a velvet jacket last year and looks great w black slacks and dark shirt.

I also have my own tux; use it a couple of times a year. Best purchase ever.

I was invited to a black tie wedding and a rental tux was like 175. So I said screw it and bought one, along with a couple of shirts. Not sure I'd call it my best purchase ever but it is on the list.

I keep kidding my wife about getting me a velvet jacket. My fear is as soon as I get one they will be completely out of style.

The velvet jacket comes and goes.

You guys in your tuxes are way too fancy for me. My only dress fit for a ball still has tags on it after many years, and probably won't zip.

So many of the younger people that I work with wear suits which are much tighter generally and shorter in the leg than anything which I have ever worn. Looks so. uncomfortable

I have to wear a tux 3-4 times a year. I hate wearing a bow tie so I now wear a long silver tie. If it is cooler event, I put a vest on as well.

I wear a jacket on Wednesdays (school thing), and every once in a while, I will break out the one suit that still fits. My recent weight loss may have allowed me to put one or two back into the rotation, but I really have no need to find out.
