    Not so fast.

Pete Williams reporting Rosenstein's on the way to the White House.

Says they'll have to fire him.

I had meant to throw this up a couple of days ago. It's been somewhat overtaken by events, but still...

Yeah. I'll accept that I am naive and have a child's sense of honor. And in this case, obviously Trump is not going to want to stand face to face with Rod Rosenstein, given how things have evolved.

But I have had to fire people a few times. Not often, thankfully. It is the shittiest feeling (maybe not as shitty as it is for the person being fired, but still). I remember once, I had the choice of having someone else do it, or doing it myself. And I felt like I had an obligation to do it myself face to face. I have thought about this with regard to Trump. A few of his firings since he has been president follow a gutless pattern. ... In the case of Tillerson, he found out via Twitter. Others, John Kelly was the axe man. Trump will talk tough, say shitty things about someone, insist on someone getting canned. ... Has he ever had the guts to look someone in the eye and do those kinds of things?

I imagine in most administrations that is handled by the Chief or Staff. Even if a POTUS orders the firing, the Chief of Staff — essentially the secretary of HR — would do the face-to-face.

Always loved that scene in The West Wing when Leo addresses the cabinet secretaries after the re-election win. Bartlett comes in, applause, says some nice words, talks about the successes of the first term and leaves. Leo says "I'll add my thanks and say that I need your resignations by 7 o'clock." And then it opens with the title.
Requiring letters of resignation helps avoid the headline "President fires X."

I had to fire someone once. It was not pleasant. In the end, my managing editor (RIP, RW) ended up actually firing the guy. I was still pretty young as far as being a sports editor goes. The guy needed to be fired, but it still didn't make me feel any better about it.

If the base explodes where do they go? They are not as stupid as democrats. Democrats who hated Hillary say out or voted 3rd party. Conservatives will not blow up. They may kill a few more dark people but they won’t throw out their power
