One last thing. In my 25 years of sportswriting, I saw many pols doing things like throwing out first pitches, waving from courtside, etc. Republican or Democrat, they all got booed, because fans felt they were horning in on their fun, and hence were asking for it. When Mitt Romney was Governor of Massachusetts, he'd go to Celtic games and try to avoid public contact, even with people who wanted to tell him he was doing a great job. I respected his misanthropy.

They have an entire TV and radio network and that harasses “our” side. It doesn’t get more public than that.

It depends on how you define constituents. He has fund raisers for corporate donors and meets with lobbyists and evangelical antiabortionists. If you can bundle a $100k you can get him for a few minutes to talk about reducing union membership and tax rates on capital gains.

If I wanted to yell at senators, I had a chance to get one of my own last Friday. I didn't. That's not me. Plus, while I disagree with pretty much everything he has ever done dating back to when he was governor, he's not an ass. He's just wrong and not doing a good job for our country. I've politely told him so and offered options of how he could be better.

McConnell has made his own bed.

About 9 out of 10 ads/mailers/etc. for my state's senate race is paid for by McConnell's PAC.

The insulation of the leadership class from citizens has made the ability to petition the government, a constitutional right, functionally impossible. Further, since the Senate majority is made up of a distinctly minority population of voters, the need for the government to be receptive to the majority of the people has diminished greatly. Additionally, McConnell for example, is virtually impossible to see in his local or DC offices, his real schedule is inaccessible to the public. He spends his time cloistered with rich donors who have made him rich

His town is defense contractors, K St. lobbyists and Lexington lawyers.

Cry me a river, Mitch. Same thing happened to Pelosi in a Cuban restaurant in Miami Friday. I'm no Pelosi fan, but THAT got more concerning because local GOP operatives involved the Proud Boys, the womderful people who brought you rioting in NYC and Portland recently, and have vowed to bring it to my neck of the woods (Providence).
I'm not into the whole masked Antifa thing, but it would be fun to see how Mitch would deal with THAT.
