Halloween. Well done if you like the genre.

We watched the original a couple of nights ago. I had not seen it see it at least 20 years. A horror classic, but lots of bad acting (except for Jamie Lee Curtis), low budget and very tame by today’s standards.

Highly recommend seeing the original first. One because this is supposed to be the direct sequel to it. The 50 others they made don’t count. Plus, lots of fun little callbacks.

Basic horror storyline. But polished and much better acting overall.

Think it’s going to get $80 million opening weekend. Not shabby.

Really interested in your post-game thoughts. How was IMAX?

Saw it tonight. Didn't care for one of the more bizarre twists that didn't serve much purpose other than to get rid of a character I liked. The first two-thirds of the movie, the second act in particular, was also a lot more intense than the climax. Once it got down to Michael vs. Laurie the stakes felt a lot smaller somehow, than when there was the prospect of him stealthily slaughtering half of Haddonfield.

Still, a good movie that I want to see again at some point to look for some easter eggs and things I didn't think about until afterward. Like the kids trick or treating, I think, were wearing masks from Halloween III (there was a note in the credits about it). Also want to see Michael's arrival in Haddonfield again to see if that really was a one-take scene following him around. That was a pretty cool scene.

Agree. A lot of the callbacks were scene-framing. Stuff I never would have remembered if I hadn’t watched the original a day before.

As for the twist with that character? I was ok with it. Kinda telegraphed it too much. But I did like the character. But figured they’d need to make a change with Loomis II.

    ‘Hereditary’
    Wow, super creepy
I’m still thinking about it 24 hours later

The one thing I never noticed about the original until somebody pointed it out is how often Michael was on the edges of a given scene, so you could just barely see him or the station wagon he used, at least until he moved.

I liked Laurie calling him "The New Loomis."

Wonder Woman. Knew nothing of it going in i.e. being set during World War II. Knew nothing of the actors/actresses other than Robin Wright. Thought both the female and males leads were really good. I liked it.

    Very good. 4/5.

The use of sound reminds of "Dunkirk." You'll know what I'm talking about if you've seen it.

Seeing "First Man" in IMAX is almost a requirement. The movie is meant to be LOUD, and IMAX can deliver.

Hah! My friends are hardcore horror fans. A lot does not faze them. However, this movie, they said, "fucked us up."

I never watch horror films and am a self-diagonosed scaredy cat. But, I'm curious to watch it. Those same friends said they would watch it with me. Let's see how that goes.
