And Pence was supposed to be the adult in the room.

I've canvassed a ton this cycle. Met many Republicans which were among the nicest interactions I had on some days despite not supporting the candidates or positions I was advocating for - one even ended with a handshake, another offering me water because it was hot and thanking me for doing what I was doing. So I do have hope. Though, It troubles me greatly that leaders who are supposed to "set the tone" are going off the rails. The people need to rise up - new leadership is required on both sides of the debate.

Easy to forget that Pence was hugely unpopular in deep red Indiana. Likely wasn’t going to get re-elected as governor. So he sold his soul to a con man and a campaign that shouldn’t have won. If remaining as Indiana governor was a slam dunk, he wouldn’t have left.

Good on you for being involved.

I joined a letter writing campaign. Personalized notes, very positive, sent to registered Democrats in key areas who have not recently voted. Sat out 2016.

    Large effort. Inclusive not divisive.

Will it make any difference? No idea. But it feels good to DO something while I eagerly wait to cast my own ballot.

Meanwhile, in suburban Detroit tonight, Mike Pence showed up and, for the invocation, tried really hard to have it both ways by inviting a "Christian rabbi," who then proceeded to pray for all the GOP nominees by name and apparently had to be brought back on stage to actually say something about the people who were murdered in a synagogue this weekend. If you're wondering what the hell a "Christian rabbi" is, the best way to describe it in layman's terms (no pun intended) is a Vikings fan whose favorite NFL player is Aaron Rodgers.

Some people view this as some sort of theocratic conspiracy, and it may be, but I'm a strong believer in "cock-up before conspiracy," and that it was just some overeager staffer who said, "I've got a great guy to do the invocation! He's a rabbi, but he likes Republicans! And Jesus!"

With a ready-made list of Republican candidates for whom to pray?
