He already tested the waters on defying the courts with the Muslim ban. And he just got done putting yet another "golly gee, the President sure can do whatever he wants" guy with a personal debt to him on the Supreme Court. Counting on the courts to save us is pretty optimistic, although not impossible.

I don't think a second Civil War in 2018 looks like the 1865 version where both sides line up with guns, wear uniforms and shoot at each other. But I think there's 10 steps between 2016 and us finding out, and we're through about 7 of those steps with the President flirting with step 8, so it's time to start thinking about what it does look like.

Like I keep saying: If this was happening in another country, if we didn't have our historical vanity, seeing what's going on here would be incredibly easy. He is openly stating his intention to nullify an explicit amendment to the Constitution. If he gets away with that one, all those "jokes" about cancelling elections or ignoring term limits stop being jokes real fast. If he *tries* to get away with that one, that's the point where he's either impeached immediately or blue states start declaring the government illegitimate.

Yes, sometimes his bloviating threats don't go anywhere. North Korea remains unnuked and Hillary Clinton is not in jail for political dissidence. But a lot of them *do* come true. He really did want to be President. Muslims are unconstitutionally banned from entering the country. Children are living in concentration camps. We really do have a committee whose job it is to try to strip citizenship from naturalized citizens. And he really did trade U.S. foreign policy to a hostile country for campaign favors. And he really is deploying troops to the border while the state propaganda network warns that immigrants are trying to flood in, bringing diseases.

And now he's really threatening to unilaterally revoke a piece of the Constitution. I'm done not taking Donald Trump seriously. He's deadly serious.

You'd think they'd have some sense of decency or dignity after Pittsburgh. But no. This is who they are. Unapologetic bigots.

I know he's a nobody who's opinion doesn't matter, but if Jacob Wohl can reach the threshold of significance, so can he.
So instead of arguing about who he is can we talk about what he's saying?

His transformation from attack dog to lapdog has been astounding, no?

Not really. Go back to his role as an impeachment manager in 1999. Just another soulless party apparatchik.

I'm sure Republicans like Graham will look back on the Trump era and feel their behavior was worth it.

It's Mueller Time starting again on Nov. 7. Don't miss the two-hour season premiere.
That will stanch some of this diarrheal flow coming out of the administration since late August.
And we've been in a civil war of ideas in this country for nearly half my life. It's just coming to a head now.

Sure. He's spouting racist, revisionist bullshit. He's acting like liberals have changed their tone because they are not using the same racist, demeaning, ugly terminology certain members of the right use to make Latinos seem less than human.

He's making an argument that is perfectly in line with being a stupid racist fuck in a silly hat.

    Happy?
