I almost think Beto would be a better Presidential candidate than a Texas Senator. He plays to both coasts and has already developed a national fundraising profile. If he doesn't win Tuesday and instead announces for 2020, I can only imagine the freakout.

Unless the electoral college changes in next year or so, you don’t win a presidential election playing to both coasts. The Democrats could put up a chicken sandwich - so long as the chicken was locally sourced from a free range farm - and win every state on West Coast.

Now, if O’Rourke could win Florida or Texas, that’d be a thing. If he can’t beat Cruz in Texas, he won’t beat Trump.

Florida and Texas are a lot different. Florida elections are always close. Texas elections never have been up until now.

 

If O’Rourke can’t beat Cruz, he can’t beat Trump. If he does - and, believe me, I’d love to see it - he can.

 

I agree with you up to this. If O'Rourke can't beat Cruz, he won't get the chance to test whether or not he could beat Trump. Because of the plethora of possible candidates, Democrats are going to be REAL picky in 2020.
