Naw, they’ll be too busy trying to ram through all of Trump’s pet legislation that’s going to be shut down when the Dems take over in the House.

No, they'll punt everything into the next Congress, either because the GOP keeps the House and expands the Senate, making it easier to do Trump stuff, or because the Democrats won the House and surviving Republican members would prefer to let them take the blame for whatever happens next. And although no one wants this to happen, it is possible that House control will come down to a variety of California races where it takes weeks to count all the ballots. This reduces lame duck time.

Living down here in New Gilead land, the Beto-Cruz race has been fascinating to watch from afar. Two months ago, there was a lot of making fun of Beto. The last month has been oddly silent about him. There is a fear he will win and they are scared shitless of that. The last thing the republicans want is the Dems to realize that cool and hip candidates will beat their tired schmucks in the majority of races.

However, I feel that when Beto loses, it will be open season as him being seen as “representative of how lame the libs have gotten.” And the Dems will go back to their stock candidates.

I see your point but I disagree just because of the states he'd have to flip to win. He's a Texas politician, so he can talk the language of the moderate-conservative. He could play well in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. He could also make Trump work for Texas (not that Beto would win Texas). Throw in a couple of county flips in Florida and the map could be 326-212.

Note I said could not would.

I think the fact that Beto has done so well in Texas proves he would be a good national candidate.

He came out and definitively said he would not run for POTUS in 2020. 2024 and beyond are still in play, I guess.

Nick Saban also said he wasn't interested in the Alabama job.

Between the SNL thing and the caravan ad - NBC is taking fire from all sides today. I really have to wonder if it is part of the strategy to be a lightning rod network. They take more heat for more things than CBS, ABC and Fox combined.

Polling is all over the place.

I still don't know about Florida and Georgia. Tom Bradley was up in polls in California for governor and lost to Deukmajian. Pollsters attributed it to people not wanting to seem like they were opposed to supporting a black candidate.
