Absolutely. The Ayn Rand wackos can go away.

I don’t even think the average Republican wanted Trump to control all the branches of government after a mid-term. He goes from useful idiot to all-powerful idiot in that case. Holding the senate so emphatically should feel like a victory for them.

They should hold and expand the majority. The map was absurdly favorable to them.

My theory is that a couple of months of Congressional oversight takes its toll on a highly overweight junk food consumer with anger management problems. Not wishing for it (hear that Secret Service?) but I think with the stresses of that job vs. his lifestyle, he's tempting the odds a bit.

A Democrat won a House seat in Oklahoma? Nobody tell Mike Gundy.

I just think he wouldn't be able to stomach losing. He'll see the writing on the wall, decide to go 1-0 in presidential elections, and then spend the rest of his life claiming that he must have been the greatest president ever, because he was undefeated.

The economy would have to tank for him to have no shot in 2020. I hope for all our sakes that’s not the case.

The economy may not tank by 2020, but odds are it will slow down a bit, or maybe more than a bit. Just coming towards the end of a cycle.

That would be nice. But he’s running. Has all that power and laws don’t apply to him. Why would he want to give that up?

When the subpoenas come rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue, he might feel differently.

He'll run. But unlike most incumbents, he should have a decent challenge -- and incumbents who have to work during primary season don't have a good history in general elections during recent decades. Unless the subpoenas and investigations become actual indictments, he will make it out of the primaries, because his base is unswayable by facts that run counter to Dear Leader's prevarications. But he will take some hits, perhaps starting with Iowa, where it looks like two GOP-held districts will flip.
