    No surprisingly, the recent treasury bond auctions have seen the weakest demand they have had in about a decade.

    The Federal Reserve can try to keep rates hundreds of basis points below whatever a market neutral rate is. But as powerful as their price-fixing mechanisms are, they are powerless if people decide our debt is shit and won't buy it without more yield.

    And because of all the debt we have already racked up, and not just government debt, they created a shit show in which every area of society is ridiculously overleveraged and the only thing keeping massive defaults at bay is the artificially low interest rates they are trying to keep in place.

    When that isn't possible, something has to give. The fact that we are running bigger and bigger deficits without a care in the world, demonstrates how f'in dumb we are.
