I have an old running buddy. Marine. Always good for a few laughs and beers. He went through a nasty divorce a few years back, and turned hard right. Hated all liberalszThe past two years he has been super trump. The last few days, he had been questioning trump on Facebook. Not denying trump, but seriously wondering what is up. I see that as progress.

I feel like anybody who is remotely intelligent and intellectually honest has to see, by now, that Trump is a disaster. The people who don't are either dumb, delusional, or filled with fear and hate, or some combination thereof.

By association, I hang out with a bunch of 70 year olds. They aren't dumb. They are probably filled with fear and hate, to be perfectly honest. I honestly think the mechanism is that they are retired and have nothing better to do except sit around all day watching Fox and listening to Limbaugh. It's poisoned their brains.

When I hear a younger person spouting the word according to Fox/Trump, I call them out. When those old guys start, I cringe and either try to change the subject extract myself from the conversation. I've learned over the past two years it is totally futile on my part to try to make them see reality by introducing facts.

He was throwing stones at the neighbor's baby as a child, and tried to throw a classmate out a window in high school.
He was born that way. So were his followers.

It's always interesting how much the job ages the person holding it. Take s look at pics of the two-term presidents after eight years. They age considerably.

Take a look at the economy in 1994 and 2010 compared to now and get back to us.

Best line from my three trips to the White House Correspondents' Dinner was when Seth Meyers asked Obama where he went. "Look at you, where is the guy from four years ago? If your hair got any whiter, the Tea Party would endorse it."

Why anybody wants that job is beyond me. Long hours (if you do it right), pay is for shit. Some nice perks, I guess.
