President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

I didn't say it didn't make it right.

Obama was a pretty truthful guy, IMHO, on the day to day stuff. I think where Obama wasn't entirely truthful was to himself. Whatever he went into his presidency to do, he lost it at some point. He never got around to much.

 

In fairness to Obama, who I have mixed feelings about, McConnell chained a boat anchor to his ankle and dropped him into the deep end. Much of what he "didn't get around to" was because anything he wanted to do, reasonable and good for the country or not, was opposed from the time it was proposed.

 

So why compare Trump's actions to any other politician? What he and his surrogates are doing is incredibly dangerous and destructive to our country. A country that most of us, on both sides, truly love and care greatly for. I think it is dangerous to say "Constantly pointing out every lie is useless". There is perhaps about 30% of the population that is just too stupid and/or racist and full of hate to change. But sane/caring individuals need to continually fight the good fight and that includes always calling out these fucks. Just my opinion.

 

Home on the couch watching Mary Tyler Moore thanks to snow in the northeast and it just dawned on me that we elected Ted Baxter.

 

Ted occasionally showed some heart. Judge Smails was a baby step toward being more Trumpish, but still miles away.

 

He liked his golf course, that’s for sure.

 

Well we definitely elected a TV character for president.

 

Because many of the people who voted for him - especially in the primary - did.

 

But they were wrong.

So rather than talk about Trump, let's talk about them.

When and why did ignorance and cynicism become the default setting for the American right?

 

And he cheated, too (winter rules).
