After this came out yesterday. Jackie Robinson Day next season could be interesting - if it's still on.

What happened to Magowan (sp?), the guy who built (Phone Company) Ballpark with no public money?

Fetuses aren't children, though perhaps one might be more capable of forming a coherent thought than you.

Can anyone clue me in on why the MLB is donating to a Senate candidate (regardless of the party or odd "proclivities") from Mississippi?

The Senate has a lot of power to fuck with businesses via corrupt regulation and legislation. That is mostly what the Senate does, actually. So the game is, industries, businesses, etc. grease politicians to buy things that are beneficial to their businesses. MLB is a business. And, among other things, they were given a legislative antitrust exemption from the Sherman Act, which gives them a freebie from its insidiousness that most other business don't get. It's corruption all around. The businesses that are randomly targeted by corrupt antitrust action, which amounts to politicians having a legalized mechanism to go after specific businesses they consider political enemies or shake them down. In the case of MLB, their business is given a pass from that. ... and I am assuming it sprinkles money all around to keep it. Among other things, because I am sure that the Senate and House can do all kinds of other things legislatively to give corrupt benefit to MLB (or harm if MLB doesn't play ball, so to speak). ... for example, setting up economic zones that give tax-payer funded transfer payments to a team that builds a stadium. Stuff like that. In most places, the kind of stuff they are buying with those contributions would be called corruption and bribery. In the U.S., it is business as usual within our political system. I am guessing they formed a PAC to do it, because you had a bunch of very wealthy owners donating individually, and with a PAC they can coordinate their contributions better and do it in a unified way.
