I have known more than one man who died in a press box. I have known a man who died sitting at his desk in a newsroom. I've known dudes who dropped dead of heart attacks before they "retired some day."
    Fuck. That. Shit.

That's why you retire and don't "work as long as you can."

I wasn't put on this planet to work myself to death.

My retirement plan isn't to be devoid of contribution and earning. My wife and I own island property. My goal is to work part time on one of the three fishing piers selling bait, tackle, drinks, etc. and talking to people.

I'll leave you Seaview. I call dibs on Surf City and Jolly Roger.
Honestly, if Surf City Pier doesn't pan out, my next choice is East Coast Sports.

I looked on the FEC database today and didn’t find any contributions from this PAC to anybody since Oct. 17. It gave to this typical Trumpist on Sept 30 and June 30. It also gives to both sides.

Your imaginary one-time mail room employee-turned-executive wasn't promoted by an executive, either.

He likely was promoted by some lower-level management type just above him.

My parents are Silent Generation. My dad, born in 1939, worked full time, got drafted, then started his real career literally as a production line mechanic. He took a Dale Carnegie course, took a few college classes, worked his way up to head of maintenance, to head of production, to production coordinator for two factories before he retired. I remember as a kid in the 70s going in with him on weekends to check on things.

He retired at 61 because he'd done his part, and it was time to enjoy the fruits of his labors. To this day, much to my mom's - and my - aggravation, he still has to invent crap to do, but at least he's enjoyed being retired for nearly two decades.

His only son didn't inherit his work ethic, but at least he did things the right way: work hard, earn a life, make way for those coming up next, and not be a hindrance to progress.

Jamal Khashoggi's life was TAKEN by Saudi Arabia during the Trump Administration. Was Trump too soft on Saudi Arabia?
