The notion that Mississippi was in play just because a Trumpist candidate was proven to be a racist never made sense to me. If anything, the public revelations only make her more beloved in SEC country. I’ll start believing it’s a race when I see Espy up 8-10% and not a minute sooner.

 

Like Driftwood, I spent 15 years with a Gannett/Gatehouse pub before leaving to become a high school English teacher, which I've done for the last seven years.

My wife (who also is a high school English teacher, but 12 years younger than me) and I live four minutes away from two private golf clubs on the Connecticut shoreline. So long as things stay as they are (though our first child is due in April), the end of my 25th year of teaching will also be the beginning of my first year working in the pro shop of one of those private clubs.

Also, I truly believe Baby Boomers are to blame where we are. Teaching in a small farm town proves this to be true, especially during budget votes.
