Those comparisons aren't even remotely the same thing.

The equivalent would be for me to say you are a misogynist and possibly a rapist because you don't respect women's right to choose. Of course, I'm not going to make such accusations because I'm not you, but I thought perhaps you might learn something from seeing the type of logic you are employing thrown back at you.

 

He was explaining why - despite having the ability to solve some problems facing the world - we don't act.

And he's right about those factors being in play.

 

He is clearly talking about people who have those issues and are dragging the rest of us down.
Isn't it clear when people talk about groups of people---not religious or color or male, female, groups, they hold all kinds of people, but groups of people with the same opinions, that they are talking about that group only. If you are not racist, hateful because of bad parenting, then he is not talking about you. hell, I fit one of those 3 descriptions, but I know he is not talking about me. (luckily I did not turn out racist or unusually hateful)
He is talking about groups of people with certain opinions, not Americans as a whole, because we are all different as Americans.
Now, you must qualify for one or more of those groups because you are definitely taking this as a personal attack on you. Why do you feel he is picking on you?
