"The president of the United States’ personal lawyer admitted to lying to Congress about the president’s business activities with a hostile foreign power, in order to support the president’s story. In any rational era, that would be earthshaking. Now it’s barely a blip. Over the past two years, we’ve become accustomed to headlines like “President’s Campaign Manager Convicted of Fraud” and “President’s Personal Lawyer Paid for Adult Actress’s Silence.” We’re numb to it all. But these are the sorts of developments that would, under normal circumstances, end a presidency."

Marcy Wheeler. I've followed her ever since she was live blogging the Scooter Libby trial. Smart, well connected. She's done great work all through Trump/Russia.

Today may very well have been the day that the Trump presidency began to crumble.

Sorry. no. There could be pictures of Putin handing Trump sacks of money and the Republican party would stand by Trump completely. He will only be defeated by voters. And Getting rid of him won't matter unless the Republican Party is destroyed down to the precinct level. It ain't Trump, it' the millions of Americans who yearn to live under a tyranny where they get to oppress the fellow citizens they hate.

You really do love your Russian laundry. You keep suggesting that the proper response is to just accept outside interference in the election. That is a terrible idea.

    It's 2018.

EVERY FUCKING ELECTION contains outside influence of some kind. Obama posts a YouTube video endorsing Macron . . . he's trying to influence a foreign election.

In more serious ways, we have meddled in 81+ elections around the world. How have we been punished?

"Laundry" is saying ONLY our elections can't be meddled with.

"Consistency" is accepting that ALL elections are subject to outside meddling, and it's up to each nation to mitigate the meddling as much as possible.

    I choose consistency.

And for the 23,000th time . . . Russia's meddling was not intended to CHANGE the result. It was meant to make America QUESTION the result . . . no matter what that result was.

We fell for it. Hook, line and sinker. We are now Election Fraud Nation. Every important race forward will come complete with allegations of fraud/suppression by the losing side. Every race in which Tuesday's "winner" is Friday's loser will be questioned by the losing side.
