Not a franchise renowned for long-term thinking, and how could they look at de Grom's stat line and not be desperate for any proven hitters no matter what their age.

I understand what the Mariners are doing - going into semi-tank mode until the Astros nucleus and Trout hits free agency - the Mets? I got nothing. What is the point of a great closer when you might not have many games to close?

The Mets GM is also Cano's former agent. Be prepared for all sorts of delightful "connections" like this in the next few years of his employment.

Sounds like that is the money back in a deal for Segura.

Segura supposedly was the cause of the big fight in the M's clubhouse this summer, he supposedly was taking personal shots at Dee Gordon via texting or something and it got sent to the wrong people. He's a good player but now has been traded twice within three years. Makes you wonder.

With Santana, what are the M's gonna do with Healy at 1B? DH? Healy strikes out a lot but he can be a solid 25 homers, 85-RBI guy with sufficient at-bats.

    Was Ruth dead?
Also, interesting that he insisted on shaking hands with the women first.
