WTF is Trump thinking, going after Huawei's CFO on the same day that he's trying to cut a deal with China on trade? They are essentially China's Apple. It takes no great skill to figure out that it would inflame things between the countries.

All Xi Jinping has to do is to release a statement that essentially says that he and Trump talked, and that there was no firm agreement that matches Trump's version to cut the legs out from under him. I doubt that it goes that way, because Xi does not want to see the tariffs go from 10% to 25%, but Chinese diplomacy is generally shrewd. They play grandmaster chess while Trump plays checkers (or maybe Chutes and Ladders).
