Ventura was trying to organize before WM2, not the first one, so Vince wasn't in that much financial peril.

Plus, if you take a look at the percentage of what the wrestlers make compared to what the company makes, it's a much smaller percentage than what unionized pro athletes make in other major sports.

With a unionized group, maybe they get more money, so they don't end up broke at the end, they get health insurance to take care of the injuries before they get worse and they get a lighter schedule.

WCW's wrestlers had multiple cliques who didn't get along, so there was really no chance of them unionizing, plus, with the exception of perhaps two years, the company was losing millions each year. The other companies are pretty small and weren't really making a lot of money, if they were making money at all.

They should be employees. Retirees should get some kind of health care. No reasonable person outside Vince Kevin Dunn and maybe Prichard would argue that.

But I dont think wrestlers would have those things but for Hogans thing with Ventura.

Wonder if Cody Rhodes startup will be different? Or maybe he simply wont require exclusivity so his guys are still independents.

Blood and all, I'd pick Becky every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Obviously, there's no changing the past. I do think older/retired wrestlers would be better off today had they formed a union in the '80s, simply because unions provide a wide cover on safety issues, both in the moment and long after they left the ring. It's why retired NFL and NHL players and their families can more readily pursue lucrative lawsuits about CTE and a wide variety of health ailments those leagues ignored and concealed for decades.

And given how the WWE is now a publicly traded company, I think forming a union should still be on the table. While they still risk their bodies every night, it's not like during the Attitude Era or ECW days, where the company might fear grievances might dilute/prevent wrestlers from performing certain risky moves or writers from presenting sensational storylines (thinking in particular about sexual harassment/degrading women).

Rollins “shooting” about the revival reminds of cm punk saying tyson kidd needed a push.

And like 7 years later its got no teeth. Flat show opener.

I actually liked RAW this week. But they needed to explain Slater's role a bit better. I didn't see a bit involving Corbin telling him he knew what he had to do etc.

One problem is that Rollins already overcame the odds of having Slater helping out Corbin. Part of the appeal of a heel ref is that he screws over the face a few times before getting his comeuppance.

Plus, why doesn't Slater just make a phone call and see if Smackdown will have him again?

The last hour was better than the first one, and Rollins ladder match was really good.

That could be an amazing match, unless DB tries to weasel his way out of it like a heel. I wish they would let the cruisers wrestle with the main roster guys more.
