How, exactly, does that make our country safer?

I'm always fascinated to hear a candidate welcome the speculation one day, then dismiss it the next. What could they have learned about this President that suddenly made the job less appealing than the day before?

I know there is bias of recency, but if Trump does indeed go down, he ends up on the Rushmore of American Scoundrels, yes? With Nixon, Jefferson Davis, and J. Edgar Hoover. On second thought, I'll replace Davis with Andrew Jackson.

And between the corruption, illicit coziness with foreign leaders, election meddling, bad behavior, racism and plain old bad policies - he might just take the cake.

He really should have a statue out front of the Capitol reminding legislators about the need for checks and balances.

Nobody studying the history of this will be fooled.
These guys will go down as some of the villains of our national story.

Arnold didn't do anything. The plot to allow the Brits to seize West Point was foiled and he switched teams for a chance to settle his various debts. He's the first - no doubt - but he helped the US a lot more than any damage he might have done. Sure he led some successful raids - but really he was no worse, or better than the many former US Generals who joined the Confederacy.

Arnold doesn’t come close. In the end he provided nothing. The British spy carrying his plans surrender West Point was captured, the plan revealed and the spy was executed

Andrew Jackson was a virulent racist, but not otherwise a terrible president.

Fillmore, Pierce and Buchanan are there with Nixon. Trump pushes Fillmore off the mountain.
