President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

They're not crisis actors. They're victims. Of this there is no doubt or argument. When Emma Gonzalez got up and yelled: "They say that tougher gun laws do not decrease gun violence. We call BS! That us kids don't know what we're talking about. That we're too young to understand how the government works. We call BS!" That's wonderful and real. That's a teenager talking.

But you can watch the March for our lives rally speeches - held one month later - and know that it's a well-conceived political lobbying event full of lines like "welcome to the revolution" and an appearance by Martin Luther King's 9-year-old granddaughter. The speech that struck me most was that of a 11-year-old girl who said "People have said that I am too young to have these thoughts on my own. People have said that I am a tool of some nameless adult. It’s not true" then proceeded to quote Toni Morrison and "honor the girls, the women of color who are murdered at disproportionate rates in this nation."

And, again, I'm for gun control. The use of kids as emotional appeals to make that argument, though, is no different than the "What about the children?" moments from the Prohibition movement.

Yeah, and what would Elizabeth Smart know about kidnapping and child rape?

Amazing how these threats tend to coincide with bad news about Trumpists’ lord and savior.

 

All of these Trump End Times pieces lack the same thing: Reporting that proves or even suggests that 20 or more Trumpist Senators are poised to flip on their lord and savior.
Until I see that sort of evidence, I’m not going to believe that the end is near. People forget that republicans in the Senate stood by Nixon for more than two years after the break-in to the Watergate. Only when SCOTUS ruled Nixon had to turn over the tapes did the wall start to crack.
Today, SCOTUS, backed by Beer Bong Brett, will not be inclined to rule against God’s president. So nothing will happen.

 

Are you saying that kids, even those with first-hand experience, should not be listened to?

 

They care.
And they love it.
This is what they want. They conveniently ignore anything in the Bible, their governmental textbook, in which Jesus preaches outreach to the marginalized. They revel in mistreatment of women, pointing to scripture that says a woman's only job is to "obey" the husband. They especially love the verse that orders slaves to accept their servitude and to be grateful they're even alive.
They worship Trump and his chief evangelical enabler, Jerry Falwell Jr. They do it all by saying everything can be justified with the appointment of SCOTUS justices who oppose abortion, an assertion that suggests they support life. But they don't support life unconditionally. They love the death penalty and they care nothing about a baby after he or she is born.
They are wretched hypocrites who bastardize their religion and who are killing the country for which they claim to be the only true patriots.

 

That last sentence may be one of the greatest ever shared here.

 

Uh, no, I'm not.

I'm saying I doubted an 11-year-old was on Twitter telling Tomi Lahren to shut up by juxtaposing the cost of a border wall with clean water in Michigan. And then, after that, that there was an 11-year-old at the March for our lives rally quoting Toni Morrison and highlighting disproportionate murder rates that don't make the front pages of newspapers often enough.

And then you referenced Elizabeth Smart, and here we are.

 

Sorry I get a little testy when people go after the Parkland kids.
