I hate to hear that about your wife.
But fuck you, and stay out of a conversation that you aren't a part of.

We should all be a part of this conversation. And fuck you from all the others that had their life screwed up by medical bills.

Am I missing something here? Doesn't the quote contradict the sentence that sets it up?

Federal judge in Texas strikes down Affordable Care Act - CNNPolitics

Steve Vladeck, a CNN legal analyst and a law professor at the University of Texas School of Law, said he felt an appeal could be looked on favorably by the Supreme Court.
"The ruling relies on conclusions about who can bring this suit and about the impact of President Trump's tax bill that have been widely debunked by scholars from across the political spectrum," Vladeck said. "It will certainly generate headlines, and it may even be upheld by the conservative federal appeals court in Texas, but it's difficult to imagine that the Supreme Court—which has already turned away two challenges to the ACA—would agree with tonight's ruling."

When, I presume, college debt wasn't quite as large as it is today. Did the military pay for some or all of your undergraduate education? If so, the military made a good investment. It also helped you become self-sufficient at an earlier age than others.

You are absolutely, 100% percent, correct the military helped me become completely self-suffcient. I was as reasonably self-sufficent as a teenager could be before that, but it completed the deal. I worked farm and yard work before age 10. I got a job at the local grocery store at 16. I didn't turn 18 until after I got out of boot camp. When I got out of the Navy, I started working next to full time plus going to college. I graduated in three calendar years. I actually made money going to school thanks to the GI Bill, Pell grants, and scholarships because my parents no longer claimed me as a dependant in my early 20s.

Yes, college debt was much less then. I graduated start to finish, and my bill was about what one year cost today. Of course, that's relative because of inflation. I was fortunate enough through my own ingenuity to get may masters about 3/4s paid for as well.

I tell students every day that the military is a perfect way to become self reliant, earn a living, and cut the apron strings.

Median home price in 1980 was $47,200. As of 2017, it was $199,200.

The 1980 household median income was about $29,000. In 2017, it was $61,000.

In other words, a house was about 1.6 times more than a household's income in 1980. Now it's 3.26 times more.

Wages have not progressed with the cost of living. Look at our own industry. How many news outlets have withheld raises for 5+ years?

There are active duty service members who need food stamps to get by (When Active-Duty Service Members Struggle To Feed Their Families). There are active duty service members whose children qualify for free school lunches because of their family's low income.

Many of the current population who is 5-7 years removed from college did so at a time when grant money like Pell Grants dipped considerably. State grants increased by from 15 percent in 2011-12 to 22 percent in 2015-16. That's a substantial hike. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...college/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.9d1f23a6d0b5)

But that's okay. Everything went perfect for you 30 fucking years ago, so all the millenials can go fuck themselves.

I live with my parents and do little other than part animated gifs on a message board, but I am self-insured. I cut the apron strings with my bootstraps.
