That Buffalo team is really, really good. Alas, it will get saddled with a five seed and a matchup with another good mid-major in the first round because fuck the stupid committee.

Roy Williams signs new deal that will take him past his 78th birthday. Pretty sure he'll be retired by then, but it will probably help with recruits who are gullible.

Gotta have a coach emeritus to sign off on all those African American Studies report cards.

Vitale is quickly approaching Johnny Miller territory on my "Shut the fuck up"
    mantle.
If it wasn't before, it's sure as shit embarrassing now with the whole Dukie V thing.

From what I've heard from people who have dealt with him, Vitale is a really nice guy. But he's an abomination as an announcer and needs to be put out to pasture.

But if Penny locks down most of the Memphis area recruits he should dominate that conference. And while he will only occasionally get recruits from the Memphis area with the talent to go the NBA after a year he should be able to get a lot of solid players.

I also believe that Penny will win most recruiting battles against Rick Barnes. If Penny can coach, or hire assistants who can, he should have a top 20 program.

He spoke at our association's convention this year and was outstanding.

A great, genuine human. There are a lot of rich people in tv. How many of them devote as much energy to a charitable cause as Vitale does for cancer?

So the University of Texas is building a new basketball arena that will seat 10,000, replacing the current venue's 15,000 seats. I know downsizing is the way to go, but isn't it a statement on the projections of future live attendance that a major brand name school in a city of more than 1 million is going to build a new place of that apparently small size?

Schools are downsizing and replacing seating areas with suites, hospitality areas, etc. Make the ticket harder to get by decreasing availability (supposedly), and get more money out of each fan's pocket.

My alma mater did this several years ago, reduced capacity from 9100 to about 7,000, added hospitality areas and huge replay boards in the areas where seating was eliminated. Arena is far cozier and a much better atmosphere with the normal 5-6K crowd that used to get lost in a 9100-seat arena. Which helps, because we suck this season.

It's Texas. Their basketball hasn't been relevant since......well.....ever.
But they have more money than common sense.
I would love to see K State play a couple games in the old Ahearn Field House. Really cozy. Really loud.
Bramlage is loud once a year when they play KU. That may be the ugliest coloseum in the world on the inside. Just concrete everywhere. It's just ugly.
