I hate Trump, but have to agree. The faster we get everyone out of Syria, Afghanistan, Niger and all those other godforsaken places, the better. They can have all the desert they want and can blow each other to kingdom come, for all I care.

And as someone who remembers the brought-to-you-by-the US military Vietnam War quite clearly, I'm not all that sure their judgment is right in every instance. Sometimes cut and run is the best policy, something we should have learned in 1964 in SVN and in 2003 in Iraq. Not a big fan of nation-building.

    Fucko still sucks, however.

The Mideast will be "tilted' toward those who . . . live there.

    What a concept.

I'm sure Israel and the Kurds take great comfort in wised-up Realpolitik.

The sad truth is some of the most disasterous and pivotal decisions in US foreign policy came about as a reaction or overreaction to something else. 9/11, the Cold War, the Vietnam War, the Arms for Hostages thing, even the way the creation of Israel was handled. Sudden decisions brought about sudden and often unrelated political pressures that are made in a matter of days can have impacts for decades.
Every time the US seems to try and "solve" a problem, they end up creating another one.

Israel can act unimpeded in Lebanon and Syria. They won’t have to worry about A erican troops hiding in their bunkers. As long as Russia and Israel can avoid shooting at each other it’ll be fine. Israel will carver out the Golan Heights again, and keep southern Lebanon from becoming a Hamas staging ground. Russia will prop up the current regime while occupying the Eastern border along Iraq. The Russian/Iranian war for control of The Arabian peninsula will play out with trump flicking the turtleheads out of his ever fattening asshole.

Yeah, because if the U.S. steps aside, no one else will step in. Note that Russia does not live there.
