I don't know. I covered the Rose Bowl a couple dozen times and I never got invited to that. I've been there twice, I think. Excellent food.

He reminded me of Rob Corddry in Ballers, especially when he got the Gatorade bath. I haven't watch a lick of Minnesota football this year, so I found him intriguing, sprinting from one end of the field to the other at the end of the first quarter. Only watched that abysmal game because I was at my mom's house and supremely bored. The Quick Lane Bowl didn't help.

Biggest regret of the bowl season so far was not emptying the piggybank on the TCU/Cal under, if not before kickoff than during in-play wagering. They could still be playing now and not have 30 points combined.

NCAA basketball teams practice until the day of the championship game.

Why not just do that with football?

Taking the over-55 in this Temple-Duke game feels a little like stealing at this point.

I guess my thought about some of these bowls ... if I have nothing else going on and just want background noise, OK. But would I make time to find a way to watch Temple-Duke or TCU-Cal in the regular season? Absolutely not. Not sure why I would now.

They are an excuse to not talk to relatives (see also - Drinking).

PS - I really don't need to see another pep talk from a coach when they know the cameras are there. Also don't care about the latest "prop" teams use to reward/acknowledge good plays.

On the other hand - watching these games gets me to the gym.

Certainly not appointment viewing, but it beats the hell out of normal daytime TV.
Any televised sports away from peak hours -- on during a weekday or after 10 p.m. -- are gold.

No doubt, I don't disagree with that. That's why I've gotten into Premier League so much. :)

It's weird with the lower-tier bowls, you can almost tell immediately who is actually motivated to play. It was clear from kickoff that Minnesota wanted that game and Georgia Tech gave no fucks last night.

That's where you make the money gambling during bowl season. Find those three or four games where one team is mailing it in for whatever reason (coaching changes are the most common example) and go heavy.

I want an expanded playoff as much as the next fan, but it'll be sad if that kills off some bowls because there can be some serious value in the games people love to rip.

Makes me want to channel William Wallace and shake some sense into people.

"Two months from now, sitting alone and bored on your couch, would you be willing to trade all of your Saturdays until September for one chance -- JUST ONE! -- to come back here and watch another college football game? For we may take our wives shopping, but they will never take OUR FREEDOM!"
