Yes, I have been in all those cities. And three of them are in the state we're discussing, so I'm not what the gotcha is.

Look, maybe you're spoiling for a fight, as ever, which is fine. But I have never been in an American city, except for maybe San Francisco, with the population of crazy homeless that Los Angeles has. I don't know how you can make the case otherwise. I live between Venice and Santa Monica. In 20 minutes, I can walk from the 3rd Street Promenade and all its lights and shops—and yes, too many homeless—to what is essentially a tent city with its own open asylum. It's striking, coming from Toronto, where there are wealthy neighbourhoods and rougher neighbourhoods, but nothing to that extreme, in that proximity.

Even Baltimore, for instance, has its dystopian parts. It doesn't have Malibu just up the shore.

Five years ago, maybe. Have you been to LA lately?

I was there two months ago. And what you describe is exactly what Vancouver is.

Okey dokey. I know East Hastings is shit between Pigeon Park and Main Street, but I would argue that Los Angeles has more and worse.

There’s no “gotcha” or “fight.” Nobody is out to get you. It’s an attempt at discussion. You brought up a point I thought was rather misinformed, and I brought up examples from my life experience to challenge you on it.

If this is going to devolve into name calling, like you do with others you disagree with, I’ll pass. I’ll go back to not participating.

It’s an open air drug market on the downtown east side with a safe injection site square in the middle. It’s Hamsterdamn, it is also a stones throw from muti million dollar condos and tourist areas. I would assume LA’s shitholes are larger based on the size of the city, but what you described in your earlier post was eerily similar to Vancouver, including the cost of rent which is on par with LA.

Does this seem like a statement from a sane leader?

It's from 2014, just for the record.
