“You want to know something?” Mr. Trump finally said, exasperated. “I’ll tell you what: I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck.”

“I will take the mantle,” Mr. Trump went on. “I will be the one to shut it down — I’m not going to blame you for it.”

All about propaganda, promoting lies and undermining the truth. Pointing out what he previously said or tweeted isn't germane. Never normal, but a real threat to the republic.

I'm finding this to be true on Instagram. I do have a political streak, but I purposely steer clear of political stuff on Instagram. It's whole purpose for me is took at beach and fish pictures when I don't want to think about politics and what's shitty in today's world. Now stuff has started popping up in my suggestions. I am immune to it because I can pick out news from bots, but it pisses me off. I go there not to see that. I know Instagram was one of the hardest hit in 2016. It's bad when you are so totally connected and trackable that what I read here and in the news filters into a place where I intentionally don't go there.

There's no defending Russia on this shit. It's computerized warfare, and Trump and his lackeys have sanctioned it.

The two American parties are so busy warring with each other that they ignore the dangers of the Russian mission.

Obama wanted to release a bipartisan report on the issue, and McConnell refused.

As a veteran, in terms of Trump's handling of the border, approval rating, and on being a strong leader, all I can say is: Fuck him. In the mouth. With a rusty donkey cock. Twice.
I guess, by his math, I'm in the mintory. People are saying.

The average American veteran is from the draft era until about 1990, meaning they are way older than the general public and lest we forget, overwhelmingly male. They are in Trump's demographic wheelhouse, older white guys who mostly (but hardly all) didn't do college.

I am from the tail end of that era and male. The big difference is I am educated (masters degree) and consider myself forward-thinking.
I argue with friends of mine who are Viet Nam vets and big Trump honks. I can't get them to explain to me how they can square getting drafted, getting shot at, and in some cases hit, and be all about a bona fide draft dodger. "Did your dad pay your way out?" The only response I get is "whatabout" and deflect.
Most of them were reasonable and intelligent people prior to retirement. I still contend that these geezers have nothing else to do but sit around all day watching Fox and listening to Rush, and it's poisoned their minds. My dad is the poster child for this.

My dad is in the category of having got shot at in Southeast Asia but he is no Trump fan. Never was.

What a cliched way to grow old. Sad, and I'm not being snarky. Weird thing is, when I was young, by far the most alienated, radical in the grand not ideological sense, were the Viet vets I knew.

The same people who thought John Kerry was inappropriately awarded medals for actually being in combat have lined up in force to volunteer to suck the diminutive and useless appendage of a cowardly lying draft dodger. Agent orange is a bitch.
