Why should this end his career if there's an audience for it?

It's just a standup routine. Nobody's forced to listen to it.

Never really cared about him either way.

I think he knows who the only audience out there for him now is and is playing to them. Time to go on Wingnut Welfare. CPAC appearance, Fox News segment, GoFundMe, etc.

    He's a remarkable talent.

And the same pathologies that make him funny will destroy him.

He's not nearly talented as some on this board think he is. And he's a colossal asswipe to boot.

This seems like pretty standard material for Louis CK. And the current generation just fuels it. Don’t like it? Move on. Offended? Tweet your outrage, then move on. He likely won’t be the star he was 10 years ago, but jokes like these hardly will kill his career.

Yep, this is really a lot like his old material. Remember his bit on the word faggot. He built his career on "I'm pretty liberal, but let's not be ridiculous about it."

This is not a shift rightward for him. It's the same sort of thing he's always done, pushing boundaries on all sides, even back when liberal America loved him. He's not gonna become a Fox News/CPAC sort of guy, as that's just too far removed from who he is.

I find the coverage this is getting to be an absurd overreaction. It's just a standup routine. If you don't like him, don't listen.

I think the overreaction has as much to do with timing and public apologies as anything. A lot of folks haven't forgiven him yet.

He didn't wait long enough to come back, nor has he atoned in any meaningful way for what he did. Remember this?

I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen. Thank you for reading.

The material itself is well within the normal range of his stuff.

If you don’t like the criticism, don’t listen
