    A barrier is needed too, because even if you line the border with CBP agents, you can't stop anyone from crossing.

    They just cross, and surrender themselves, which means they're in the system, which potentially means detention, and separation.

    It's a strain on our immigration system, and asylum claims with no chance of success clog the system, to the detriment of valid claims.

    In his farewell address, Reagan evoked his favorite metaphor of America as a “shining city” and went on to say that “if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here. That’s how I saw it, and see it still.”

    It's definitely a diversion. Ever hear of tunnels, ladders, catapults (for drug deliveries), submarines (again, for drugs)?

    Go ahead. Tell me what the lessons are.

    I imagine you have the Berlin Wall in mind, which unlike 99% of walls throughout history was built to keep people in.

    Nations and city states have built walls ever since cities have been built.

    OK. Sure. And, if you build a wall, and cut down on crossing where they're built, you can deploy other resources and manpower to these areas.

    This isn't hard.

    A wall is a simplistic answer for simple people. The questions are complex and moral. But let’s start by severely punishing employers who hire illegal aliens. They are the cause. Flat out, employers who hire cheap illegal alien labor rather than Americans are the cause of rampant illegal immigration. Lock them up, confiscate their businesses. It Presdient believes the wall to be the best response to a national emergency, then locking up the largest employers of illegal aliens and suspending habeous corpus for the traitors is also appropriate.

    Btw. If we know trump lies daily about things large and small, why do we believe the wall is needed. It can’t be because the trump said so, he’s barely literate and not thoughtful. Why not just shoot them as they cross the border illegally, isn’t that what countries do to invading armies of criminals?
