The "magnet that draws people" is opportunity (mostly provided by employers willing to look the other way at the immigration status of the people they hire).

How exactly do we shut down that magnet?

Republicans mustn't worry about losing support amongst their voters if they voted to remove Trump. It would be a short-term loss at best as they will run back to the GOP the minute Tucker Carlson gets the nomination against AOC.
