I'm looking forward to Trump explaining to farmers how great things are going for them thanks to his tariffs.

 

I'm looking forward to the teachers' union telling the striking LAUSD teachers how great things are going for them.

Do you think the media will track down teachers, or parents, to tell us their sob stories of having to ration their insulin because they've missed a paycheck?

How is that remotely the same thing?

Teachers are striking of their own volition for improved labor conditions. Government workers didn't choose to be furloughed.

 

Taking some short term pain to achieve a long term goal is conventional strategy.

The idea that farmers are too dumb to understand this is odd to me.

Trump's goal is to get them a better longterm deal, just as the teachers' union is looking to get their members a better longterm deal.

 

What does that have to do with the media? Why should the media cover striking teachers the same as struggling farmers or furloughed workers?

 

Because the union is holding them out, which is surely going to put some of them in a precarious situation.
