I'm not sure how this shutdown is ever going to end. The Dems aren't going to give ground. Nor should they after the ass-whipping they administered in the midterms. Trump won't, because he doesn't care. And McConnell and the Senate repubs are to afraid to defy Trump and his 30 percent cult.

It might take the airports completely shutting down with no TSA or air traffic controllers to get movement.

Happy as hell I'm not flying anywhere in the next month or so.

 

I suspect the TSA workers in Atlanta staying home on Super Bowl week could spur a little movement.

 

Spencer Hall of Every Day Should Be Saturday had the best idea. Those IRS workers called in to process refunds without getting paid themselves should just slap an extra zero before the decimal point on every check.

The Super Bowl, like the State of the Union speech, is a National Security Special Event involving scads of federal law enforcement personnel. What if they call in sick the Monday before the game, or the agencies say they just are too overstretched right now? What happens? Will the NFL pay them? Not bloody likely.
