This is the Steele dossier all over again. Bet they turn out right in the end.

Is it possible that Buzzfeed's mistake was its attribution of all of its revelations to the Mueller investigation rather than the SDNY investigation? That everything could be correct, except that it is the SDNY that has all of this evidence, and not the special counsel? Is there some incentive for Mueller to maintain a clear distinction between those two cases? I think the parallel investigations and Mueller's deliberate handing off of certain aspects of his case is the most intriguing part of this whole affair.

    Agreed.

Mueller has lots of strategic reasons for condemning the Buzzfeed story, even if it's entirely correct.

The leaks likely come from the Southern District, but come in service of what? Why leak it now? To these reporters?

I'm thinking it's a CYA move by Mueller. In case Trump shuts him down on the federal level, the SDNY can carry on.

It's heartwarming to see all the sympathy in America for the prostitute arrested in Moscow. The one who lends her support . . . to Harvey Weinstein.

JMO Democrats, but when you hitch your wagon to porn stars and prostitutes, you have to expect the wheels to come off.

By the way, she was arrested after this stunt. In America.

Because a spokesman for Mueller disavowed the Buzzfeed article.

"BuzzFeed's description of specific statements to the Special Counsel's Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen's Congressional testimony are not accurate," said Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller's office, in a statement."

Narrowly worded, and there is a lot of speculation as to what the SCO is protecting/ruling out.

No idea. Muller has only put out three or four statements. I'd be very surprised if he responds any further.

Buzzfeed did not attribute it to the SCO. It came from "law enforcement sources". There is wide speculation that it came from the SDNY, which leaks freely, possibly from FBI sources there, who have access.

I think that unless something further breaks Buzzfeed will be forced to lay their cards on the table and reveal what they have backing this story up or lose all credibility.

He’ll lose in the primary to a state senator who already announced. That guy will then win 60% in the general election.

Dems had their chance to flip the seat and didn’t.
