It is better that he didn't get punched, yes. (Nazis should still get punched.) But I think in general, we see a lot of bad behaviour from a lot of people, mostly white, who know they're not going to get punched. Standing nose-to-nose to someone in most situations will get you pushed, at least. The kid knew, in part because he was surrounded by great numbers of his jackal compatriots, that nothing bad was going to happen to him in the moment.

I would guess that if knew what was coming down the pipe, he wouldn't have done what he did. Not many of us would. Being in the centre of a viral shitstorm sucks, and yes, is plenty of consequence. It's heaps of the ol' consequence. He didn't know that was coming at the time.

That's like saying, Hey, you visited the prison to see your friends, why not just become an inmate?

Being a sane man's Dick Whitman is no way to go through life, son.

    Wade in the water
God is gonna trouble these waters

See that band all dressed in white
God is gonna trouble these waters
It look like a band of the Israelites
God is gonna trouble these waters

See that band all dressed in red
God is gonna trouble these waters
Look like a band that Moses led
God is gonna trouble these waters

No, he certainly didn't. But I think it is the perfect lesson for him, the kids around him and anyone else to learn. If you are going to do something like that, you are going to have to own it, probably for life.

This entire cycle was predictable from the beginning.

    1) White men do something shitty to someone who isn't a white man, showing their bigotry

    2) The backlash blames the victim, digs into their background to show they aren't perfect people (implying that only perfect people can be victims)

    3) Gaslighting begins, blatantly lying about what happened ("the video exonerates them!")

    4) Lionize the perpetrators in the name of protecting them from unfair consequences

Just got an email into our newsroom about three minutes ago demanding we tell the truth and put them blame on the real instigators here: the Black Muslims.
