Except doesn't being under a National Emergency give the President practically blank-check powers to do whatever he wants? Like close down the Internet or put his face on the $20 bill or open up the Grand Canyon to oil drilling?

If you think it is only millennials who are chasing traffic, I suspect you don't work at a news organization at this current moment in time.

No. There are currently 31 active national emergencies.
Trump's wall would be the 32nd active national emergency - CNNPolitics

Not if there is no true emergency. Expect the lawsuits to fly as soon as one is announced. One judge issuing an injunction would gum up the gears, then it gets appealed up. I'm not sure that the Congressional R's would like supporting that any more than the wall.

Is McConnell thinking he can give trump enough rope to off himself and take Pelosi with him?
After declaring the national emergency, crime still won’t go down, illegals will still come and Mexico wouldn’t have paid a dime. Trump can’t keep a promise. 2020

Until Fatfuck just says he isn't abiding with any judge's decision he doesn't like.

One of the great things about making up the reasons to declare a national emergency is you can make those reasons go away just as quickly. Right now we're told the reason we need a wall is the influx of drugs and a few spotlighted murders or violent crimes committed by immigrants.

Just turn off the spotlight and bingo, bango, bongo, the wall worked. Most of us will realize then as we do now that it's all bullshit, but what are the dumbasses at his rallies going to do, fact check him? Believe what someone else tells them? They're already brainwashed. Statics and logic be damned, the border crises isn't over until he says it is so far as they're concerned.

I really think there are only two things that will pull our country's head out of its ass and sadly - one of them is a real national tragedy, the other is Meuller dropping his report (or at least charging Don Jr.).
