We all know how the Trump Presidency will end, I get sick of the thought about stories about the "remarkable downfall." The downfall of the Trump empire wasn't what was remarkable. It was the rise, and the various enablers - that was remarkable.

 

The last month has shown that there is a limit to how far most GOP senators will toe the Trump line. Something to think about when articles start flying out of the House.

 

Obama should've pulled us out of Afghanistan, but despite his many good qualities, he was just too conventional a pol to be the one to tell the military, "sit down and be quiet. We lost. Not your fault, but you can't win."

 

Trump knows how to defeat the taliban, he’s going to let the Russians in and they can try, again.

I'm not an imperialist - I do think keeping a military presence in Afghanistan would be wise. Ongoing operations are less important than having ready resources to respond if needed. Plus - it isn't like the US has any other military footprint in SE Asia.
