If it was a joke, and it might have been, it was a barbed one. Then she dunked the shit out of him, and the NFL. Great. The Right is correct to be terrified of her.

    Few more suggestions:
    "I love Vladimir Putin."
    "You people are suckers."
    "I will resign tomorrow."

The right is probably not terrified of her. It may loathe her, but it is not probably terrified of her yet. The left very well may be and perhaps should be. She makes plain the left's goals when most of its agenda will be achieved - through the exertion of little will or discord - once Boomers pass away.

We'll see if the right has a pivot on the persona she's already created. I mean, it's pretty clear AOC believes more or less everyone should think, act, and vote the way she does, and any particular deviation from that catches her open disapproval, and she gives no fucks about the discomfort of anyone in her own party. This should all be catnip to the right, just as the ludicrous Tea Partiers were to the left.

But we will see. She's messed up a few times without getting too much of the hammer. The mainstream press is kinder to her because it wants her to succeed and win. That moment on 60 Minutes was a big whiff but it didn't turn out to be that big of a deal.

FWIW, I'm not opposed to higher income tax rates, but I acknowledge the global environment in which we live, too. There are a lot of places to take business and money these days. And, at least in history, when the government officially picks a bone this big with the ultra-rich (and it has not yet), the ultra-rich ain't without arrows in its quiver. If the government wants to win, it usually takes seizure. That is, a kind of unpleasant force.

And I kind of thought, for many years, it'd come down to something close to that. I'd like for it not. But AOC's there now, and a lot of people are ready to line up behind a person who's borrowed a lot of socialist ideas she cultivated down at the bar and has no experience in actual governance. She's an effective, attention-getting communicator, has mastered a dominant media of the day (in this case, Twitter and Instagram) and has a certain populist appeal in front of the nation's jury, as it were. The right could have settled the case for much less.

Nevertheless, I don't think the right, in its delusion, is terrified of her. No. I think she crystallizes the opposition for them.
