I think making moving someone to the DL being a significant move - 15 game minimum and limiting the number of pitchers you can carry on the roster might help as much as anything. Teams move pitchers up, down, off and on the DL so they are effectively carrying an 18-pitcher staff even with everyone healthy. Which makes all those pitching changes possible.

    Yeah, can Edelman play defense?

I think 15dl is too long. Minor Injuries take less time to heal due to better treatment options now than when the 15 day dl was created. Rather than go on the dl players sit out who can’t play and rush back before they should.
Make it 7-9 games not days.

Why not just have the model the other sports use - a 30 man roster with 25 active for each game? As I write I realize that a problem is starting pitchers. That should be surmountable.

Leave the DL at 10 days for hitters but make it 15 days for pitchers, or at least starting pitchers. A 10-day DL stint, surrounded by off days, is often just one start, which allows teams to manipulate their roster.

They could limit the number of pitchers that can be among the 30 or set a maximum of say six pitchers active per game, allowing for a starter and five relievers.

Rather than universal DH, how about trying to go back to why we grew u loving the game? Less stoppages, more game/play, less complicated. Great confrontations, stud hitter v stud pitcher. That was the essence IMHO.

    What does this even mean?

It’s gotten too complicated, baseball has lost its way. Universal DH is changing the game even farther from where it used to be.

How far back should we go? Raise the mound again? Make pitchers throw 350 innings? Abolish the DH? Eliminate free agency?

There's one thing they can do right now to shorten games they won't do - go back to 60-90 seconds between innings. They say they can't lose the ad revenue, but good grief, you're already charging $20 for a beer ...
