The problem wasn't that Palin was kind of ignorant, it was that that was seen as "proof" that she was qualified, and the best way to "show those elites" who is boss was to get her to Washington DC. Her ignorance was seen as a plus.

I'm not from New Jersey and might not know WTF I'm talking about. But Christie seems like a prime example of a once-reasonable, moderate Republican who could have been an excellent governor had he not sold out to the far-right wing of the party in an attempt to be president, or a national player on some level.

Could have been a Nelson Rockefeller-type governor but instead left office as a statewide/national clown.

Apparently one of the Fairfax accusers also was raped by a Duke basketball player in 1999.

Palin has to be a star of her own shown. Playing second fiddle to trump wouldn’t be in her wheelhouse. Trump also knows she would try to steal the show so he avoids her. Also, i wouldn’t be surprised if he considers her a hick from Alaska and couldn’t fathom being around someone so low class.

Palin as an unpretentious truthteller espousing hopespun values would have been dangerous to the Dems. But she wasn’t as smart enough, the spotlight was way too much and then she began believing her own BS.

Chris Christie is reasonably intelligent, can speak coherently, has a record of public service and is probably not a Russian asset. So, not like Trump in those categories.

That pretty much describes how he came across on the show.

Christie for me was too cynically ambitious. His time was really to go in 2012 before the tide began to turn for him locally. I remember his State of the State address in 2016 was all about the plight of people in crucial primary states, instead of NJ. He was a good attack dog and would have been good against Hillary in a debate
