Just came across this, which I think makes some sense of the things we've talked about.

It's far out, man.

 

Yeah, there's a lack of urgency to it. I suspect it was trying to capture ennui - the listlessness and fecklessness of the kid's life - without really sticking the landing. That's hard to do. It had a whiff of literary fiction to it. It even ends on a muted note. Reminds me of Kelly Reichardt films, if you've ever seen one.

 

Can't obstruct if you don't nominate, dingus.

 

The president of the United States is casually threatening to arrest law enforcement for investigating him.

As always, we would have no problem seeing this for what it is anywhere else. We are blinded by our belief in our exceptionalism. “It can’t happen here.”

 

So. Awesome.
