Bernie 2020: More Unelectable Than Ever!

One assumes the Senator is in the race for the relatively short run purpose of advancing his ideas, then handing his constituency over to someone younger who might be able to win a general election.

If not, if he's really running, this is super dooper stupid.

If the Dems want to ensure four more years of Trump, go ahead, nominate Bernie.

Go the fuck away, old man.

Let the Republicans paint him as the socialist boogeyman while a real contender kicks Trump's ass.

on the other hand, we're already paying a retiree to sit in the White House and watch TV, so maybe Bernie being sworn in at the age of 79 makes good sense

Bernie is bad for the Dems. He forces everyone left and doesn’t allow for candidates to be themselves.

Also: I’ve listened to more of Harris. I like her, but she’s got that Hillary problem of making small lies all over the place to seem more relatable.

Sanders' problem is that his prior best finish was second in a two horse race against something less than political Secretariat. Now he's in a full Kentucky Derby field, with his advantage of being new and different all gone. Being old enough to remember Nixon's comeback, it came because he was broadly acceptable to his entire party while his rivals weren't. Just the opposite for Bernie.

That's why I think he's largely a stalking horse to keep the rest of the field moving left.

Contra Alma, the Democrats need to move left to build a new post-Clinton/post-corporate coalition.
