Why is it important that the details come out how someone died like this? What purpose does it serve?

Not sure about the details, but it does fall into the "public figure/public place" guidelines. And it isn't like KTLA is know for it's journalistic integrity.

What does KTLA have to do with this? This is their report:

KTLA anchor and reporter Chris Burrous was found to have died from methamphetamine toxicity, according to a Los Angeles County coroner's report released Friday.

Burrous, who was 43, died on the afternoon of Dec. 27 after being found unresponsive at a Days Inn in Glendale with a male companion, according to authorities.

The Glendale Police Department initially said they were investigating Burrous' death as a suspected overdose.

No criminal charges were filed against the friend, who police say administered aid before first responders arrived at the scene. Burrous was then taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

His death was ruled an accident. Other contributing factors, according to the coroner's office, included hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Burrous, who first joined KTLA in 2011, was a beloved figure at the station, anchoring the KTLA 5 Weekend Morning News and reporting on weekdays.

His Burrous' Bites segment, where he showcased hidden foodie gems across the Southland, was a popular fixture on the program.

Burrous is survived by his wife Mai and 9-year-old daughter Isabella.

He was laid to rest on Jan. 11, on what would have been his 44th birthday.

    Not exactly salacious.

The report with all the details came from The Blaze, which appears to be a 3rd rate TMZ.

To the point @JC made, it's not important that the details be reported, but the details are going to be in the police report and that's a public record. Most news organizations will use discretion in reporting those details. A shitty gossip site will not.

Men are such animals. It's so sad but - gay or straight - every one of us has at least a small chance of going out in such a scenario,

    Speak for yourself!

Both VB 1.0 and 2.0 have ZERO chance of going out like that.

The only website to post the salacious details was "The Blast" not "The Blaze". On "The Blast" the story has been edited since OP posted to remove references as to how the meth was consumed.

The details in "The Blast" story, I am guessing, are probably false as it has not been reported elsewhere.

KTLA is known for their pablum, saccharine morning "news". It runs for hours and hours in the AM, they have a profitable niche.

    Sorry, The Blast.

And I'll bet you they are straight out of the police report. No decent publication is going to run those details.

Oh. I'm saying it has a .000001% chance of ever happening for most of us.

But realistically, given the right phase of moon, the wife is out of town, the kids with her, I've had a little too much to drink, have been listening to too much early Bruce (Man, those days are gone forever, along with youth,) I'm in the wrong bar, the exact wrong freak comes waltzing along....

And the next thing I know it's 3 am, I'm in a hotel room, I've got a bondage mask in my hands, the bed is littered with meth vials, and I'm thinking, Man this is a great idea!
